Jorge Masvidal claims to be calling Donald Trump to score UFC White House bid: ‘Let’s throw down for the President’

Jorge Masvidal is busting out all the stops for a chance to land a spot on UFC’s upcoming White House card and that includes supposed phone calls to President Donald Trump.

Just about everyone is trying to score an opportunity to fight on the White House lawn in 2026 so Masvidal is joining a long list of other fighters vying for the same thing. While Masvidal has a leg up over most given his track record in the sport and popularity among fight fans, the fact remains that he’s turning 41 years old next month, hasn’t competed inside of the Octagon in nearly three years, and is riding a four-fight MMA losing streak.

Masvidal, who has logged two professional boxing bouts since announcing his UFC retirement back in April 2023, claims that he’s been training for months and is in great shape heading into the new year. In addition to ramping up his training, “Gamebred” is also claiming that he has contacted President Trump directly in hopes of landing a spot on next year’s UFC White House card.

“I’ve been training for like two, three months now. I’m calling Trump and everybody — you got to get me on this card,” said Masvidal during a recent interview with Henry Cejudo (shown above). “I’m just staying focused, staying in shape; hopefully everything works out. I’m still always down to fight Leon [Edwards] just ’cause we got all the history. I’ve never had any ill will towards Leon and I still don’t have ill will towards him, but I’d still love to punch him in the face and just settle all that. If it’s not Leon, just give me somebody that’s going to come and fight. Let’s throw down for the President.”

What do you think, fight fans? If Masvidal is healthy, in shape, and ready to return at the UFC’s White House card, should the promotion grant him the opportunity?

If so, who should “Gamebred” face in his UFC return? Leon Edwards? Colby Covington?
