UFC 321 ended in dissatisfaction when the headliner was ruled a no contest because challenger Cyril Gane unintentionally poked champion Tom Aspinall in the eye.
The indiscretion forced referee Jason Herzog to end the fight after just four minutes and 36 seconds.
With Gane squandering his third opportunity at undisputed UFC gold and the champion in hospital with facial injuries, the heavyweight division is now in limbo.

In the midst of the chaos, light heavyweight titleholder Alex Pereira fired off a post on X, calling out former two-weight world champion Jon Jones for a scrap that would “make the heavyweight division great again.”

Jones responded in kind, accepting the challenge and proposing that their bout take place at the unprecedented White House event tentatively scheduled for June 2026.
Jones has made no secret of his desire to headline that card, however, UFC President Dana White has downplayed his chances because of past indiscretions that have made him an unreliable candidate for a main event act.
The back-and-forth between Pereira and Jones comes after 18-months of the former light-heavyweight and heavyweight champion making it clear that he wanted no part of fighting Tom Aspinall.
With that being said, a showcase between the Brazilian powerhouse and the man they call ‘Bones’ would be a blockbuster fight whether it was for a belt or not.
With roughly seven and a half months until the White House card is set to go ahead, the UFC matchmakers will be salivating at the idea of pitting these two monster brands against each other in the headliner of a numbered event.
