Atlanta Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo still has a job. But he won’t be working on Sunday.
The Falcons on Saturday downgraded Koo to out for Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings. The decision is not injury related, according to the team. Koo did not travel with the team to Minnesota for the Sunday night game.

Instead, Parker Romo will kick against Minnesota. The Falcons signed Romo this week after Koo missed a would-be game-tying 44-yard field goal attempt in the waning seconds of a 23-20 Week 1 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Romo worked with the team as a member of the practice squad this week and will now kick in a high-stakes game as the Falcons seek avoid an 0-2 start to the season.
Romo has previously kicked in four NFL games, all of them with the Vikings last season. He made 11 of 12 field-goal attempts and 7 of his 8 extra-point attempts.
Koo is in his seventh season as Atlanta’s kicker. He made the Pro Bowl in 2020 while connecting on a league-high 37 of his 39 field goal attempts. Until last season, he was one of the NFL’s most reliable kickers, having never made fewer than 86.5% of his field-goal attempts in a full season.

But his accuracy rate dipped to 73.5% (25 of 34) in 2024. And his high-stakes miss in Week 1 got his 2025 off to a rough start. The Falcons don’t appear ready to move on from their long-term kicker just yet. But head coach Raheem Morris’ patience has run thin.
“That’s cut-and-dry position, right?” Morris said Wednesday, per the Falcons. “You either make it or you don’t, and we’ve got to have guys in a position to make them.”
