Video: Bryce Mitchell quickly submitted by 19-year-old at EBI 25

Bryce Mitchell was defeated by a teenager.

That’s right, 19-year-old Landon Elmore needed less than one minute to submit the UFC bantamweight contender in the semifinal of the Eddie Bravo Invitational 25 lightweight tournament, which took place Friday night in San Antonio, Texas.

Mitchell picked up a win over JJ Bowers in the quarter-finals, but was unable to get past Elmore to advance to the final. Elmore quickly snaked a flying triangle choke on Mitchell, but Mitchell took him out of bounds. The reset didn’t last long, as Elmore dove for a leg and quickly had Mitchell tapping.

Mitchell, who’s known for his strong grappling skills in the UFC, made his bantamweight debut in July, leaving behind his run at 145 pounds. In his 135-pound debut, Mitchell defeated Said Nurmagomedov in a hard-fought unanimous decision win. He’s yet to be booked for a return to the octagon.
