Quang Le vs. Santiago Luna Noche UFC preview

Le (9-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) will aim to stay in the win column following his first UFC victory in May – a second-round submission of Gaston Bolanos. Le dropped his first two UFC appearances by decision against Chris Gutierrez and third-round stoppage against Xiao Long. Luna (6-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) makes his UFC debut at the event celebrating his country’s heritage. The undefeated 21-year-old Mexican fighter has finished all of his professional bouts. His most recent outing was in May, where he finished Desmond Manabat in the first round by TKO.

Quang Le vs. Santiago Luna UFC expert pick, prediction

Kicking off the main card in San Antonio is an impromptu bantamweight battle between Santiago Luna and Quang Le.

Le, who was initially slated to face David Martinez, will now meet Mexican newcomer Luna.

Hailing from an accomplished freestyle wrestling background, Luna shows a lot of promise in multiple areas, whether we’re talking about his punching power or willingness to try and finish fights on the floor. That said, the 21-year-old is as raw as you’d expect and is still learning how to put everything together.

I can understand why money has come in on Luna and wouldn’t be shocked if he’s able to catch Le cold early and put him away. However, I’d argue that Le is an easy fighter to underrate on paper and is much better than given credit for.

Aside from being the more seasoned and varied striker on the feet, Le also wields some underrated wrestling and submission skills from his time spent training under Greg Nelson at The Academy in Minnesota.

I’m not sure anyone can be genuinely confident in a fight like this, but I’ll take the more proven product who is not fighting on short notice to survive the early storms and pull away down the stretch.

The pick is Le by unanimous decision.
