The 2025 Ryder Cup is fast approaching, now officially just a month away. The teams for both the U.S. and Europe are beginning to take shape as automatic qualifiers secure their spots. Each team will consist of twelve members who will compete on the Black Course at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, New York.
Team USA, under the leadership of World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, will make his third consecutive Ryder Cup appearance. He will be joined by J.J. Spaun, this year’s U.S. Open champion, who will make his rookie debut after finishing as the runner-up in the FedEx St. Jude Championship. The automatic qualifiers also include Russell Henley, Harris English, and Bryson DeChambeau. The final six picks from U.S. team captain Keegan Bradley will complete the team.
The automatic qualifiers for Team Europe are led by Masters champion Rory McIlroy, Tour Championship winner Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose, Tyrrell Hatton, Robert MacIntyre, and Rasmus Højgaard. Luke Donald, who will serve as captain for the second consecutive Ryder Cup, will complete the team with his six captain’s picks.

Ryder Cup format
The U.S. Ryder Cup has announced the format for the 45th Ryder Cup. The competition will begin on Friday, Sept. 26, starting with foursomes (alternate shot) in the morning, followed by four-ball matches in the afternoon. This same schedule will be repeated on Saturday, Sept. 27. The final day, Sunday, Sept. 28, will conclude with 12 singles matches.
Ryder Cup scoring
The scoring system for the 2025 Ryder Cup is straightforward: each match is worth one point, and if a match ends in a tie, each team receives half a point (1/2 point). The competition consists of a total of 28 points, and the first team to reach 14.5 points will win. If the tournament concludes with a tie at 14-14, the team that currently holds the Ryder Cup title will retain it.

Players are ranked on the Ryder Cup points list and accumulate points from their performances in the four major championships plus all regular PGA Tour events, concluding with the BMW Championship on Aug. 14-17. LIV Golf players can earn points at major tournaments as well and will be eligible for the six captain’s picks.
