Leicestershire have named batter Louis Kimber as captain of their T20 Blast side.
The 28-year-old replaces Peter Handscomb in the role, with the Australian promoted to skipper of Leicestershire’s County Championship and One-Day Cup sides.
Kimber has made 100 appearances for Leicestershire across all formats and has scored 2,770 runs for the club – which includes his astonishing knock of 243 against Sussex last season, when he recorded the fastest double century in County Championship history and a competition-record 43 from a single over.
In the T20 Blast, Kimber boasts a strike rate of almost 154 for the three-time title winners.
“I’m over the moon to take on the captaincy,” Kimber told the club website.
“In terms of my biggest strengths as a captain, I like to think I’m quite a calm character, especially in pressurised situations out on the field. I stay level and always try to find different ways to win.”
