Canadiens Make More Lineup Changes

The Canadiens gave Owen Beck another shot. He played five games at center and one at wing. He didn’t pass the audition but it didn’t take a lot to think that he wouldn’t. He just doesn’t have the body of work to let you know that so he’s heading back to Laval.

In his last three games, he had one point and didn’t record a shot on goal in the previous three. He’s 21 with less than a full season of professional hockey experience. So he needs more time and that’s ok. I think he’s right on schedule at the moment. Not being ahead of schedule is fine.

Joshua Roy was recalled on an emergency basis. If Patrik Laine stays out of the lineup because of illness then Roy slots in. He has 20 goals in the AHL but if he only plays 8-10 minutes, he will have a hard time getting it going.

Roy has 20 goals and 15 assists with Laval this season. That’s good. He’s leading the team in goals but getting AHL goals to translate to the NHL can be tricky.

Roy is scoreless in four contests this year in Montreal. He’s only recorded three shots on net with the Canadiens this season. Let’s see what he can do with this chance. As a young player yearning to play in the NHL, this is a chance to impress Martin St. Louis. This is a quick fix but it can always lead to something more down the road.
