Tampa Bay Lightning Loan Two Forwards To Syracuse

The Tampa Bay Lightning have loaned forwards Logan Brown and Cam Atkinson to the Syracuse Crunch, it was announced Wednesday.

The moves come after both forwards cleared waivers.

Atkinson, who signed with the Lightning in the off-season, has spent the entire year in the NHL to date, collecting three goals and five assists for eight points in 37 games.

Drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the sixth round of the 2008 NHL Draft, Atkinson has appeared in 807 career NHL regular season games across parts of 13 seasons with the Blue Jackets, Lightning, and the Philadelphia Flyers.

Atkinson has not seen a game in the AHL since the 2012-13 season when he played 33 games with the Springfield Falcons.

Brown, who is also in his first season with the Lightning organization, has spent the entire year in the AHL, putting up seven goals and 12 assists for 19 points in 25 games.

Drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the first round of the 2016 NHL Draft, Brown has not appeared in an NHL game since the 2022-23 season when he was a member of the St. Louis Blues. Across 99 career NHL games, Brown has accumulated 26 points.

With the Lightning’s acquisitions of both Yanni Gourde and Oliver Bjorkstrand Wednesday, Brown and Atkinson may find it difficult to see time with the Lightning throughout the remainder of the season. If the Lightning are affected by injuries though, they can rely on them to come in and play their roles.
