In Elliotte Friedman’s latest Written 32 Thoughts, the insider briefly discussed San Jose Sharks forward Luke Kunin and where he stands in trade rumors.
“There are some similar centers: Nick Bjugstad, Jake Evans, Yanni Gourde, Luke Kunin, Scott Laughton, etc. Utah is trying to make the playoffs. Montreal and Evans had a gap, but the Canadiens are holding for the price they want (at least a second). Same with the Sharks and Kunin,” Friedman wrote.

Kunin is a pending UFA with a $2.75 million AAV, which is enticing to playoff-buying teams. The 27-year-old has 11 goals and seven assists in 60 games this season in a bottom-six utility role.
Kunin has been around trade rumors for the last two seasons, and the Toronto Maple Leafs have been well-connected to the forward.

Per Friedman, the Sharks seemingly are holding out for at least a second-round pick for their alternate captain.
