Goalie Nikke Kokko was called up from the Coachella Valley Firebirds to play in net for the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday night in St. Louis. The 6’3″, 184 lb, 2022 NHL draft pick from Oulu, Finland, is the youngest goalie to make his NHL debut this season at 20 years and 347 days old.

The Firebirds posted a heart warming video of the moment the Coaching staff informed Kokko he would be heading to St.Louis telling the Kraken prospect he earned it and to “you be you”.
The Kraken were down 5-0 before Kokko replaced starting goalie Joey Daccord.

In NHL history, the youngest goalie was Harry Lumley, who made his debut at age 17 in December 1943 for the Detroit Red Wings.
Kokko participated in the Kraken’s morning skate at the Kraken Community Iceplex on Thursday, ahead of the team’s game on Saturday, March 1st, when they host Pacific Division rivals, the Vancouver Canucks. He is expected to return to practice on Friday as well.
