Nets center Nic Claxton suspended for one game after sixth flagrant foul

The NBA announced on Tuesday that NetsNic Claxton has been suspended for one game following the center accruing his sixth flagrant foul point of the season, in violation of the league’s policy.

The foul occurred in the fourth quarter of Monday’s matchup against the Washington Wizards. Claxton entered the game already with five flagrant foul points on the season, meaning his next flagrant foul would automatically result in a suspension.

The 25-year-old will miss Brooklyn’s next game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, without pay, on Wednesday at Barclays Center.

Now sitting at six flagrant foul points, if Claxton commits another flagrant foul 1 he will receive another one-game suspension. If he commits a flagrant foul 2, the center will receive a two-game suspension. After seven flagrant foul points, any flagrant foul beyond that will result in a two-game suspension.

The Nets still have 25 games left to play this season.
