The New York Islanders have assigned defenseman Isaiah George to the Bridgeport Islanders, it was announced Friday.
George, a 2022 fourth round pick of the Islanders, has spent the majority of this year in the NHL, collecting one goal and five points in 33 games with New York. George has also seen four games with Bridgeport, putting up a goal and an assist.
Prior to turning pro this year, George spent three seasons playing for the OHL’s London Knights, scoring 19 goals and adding 56 assists for 75 points in 189 career regular season games.
With George being sent back down to the AHL, he will have the opportunity to play a large role with Bridgeport and continue to develop his game. George looked solid during his time in New York but was the odd man out after the Islanders claimed Adam Boqvist off waivers from the Florida Panthers. Despite that, George factors largely into the Islanders future plans.
