The Carolina Hurricanes will be ushering in another rookie debut as 2019 first-round pick Ryan Suzuki is set to play his first NHL game tonight.
The 23-year-old center has dealt with a plethora of injuries throughout his career, but has managed to carve out a consistent swathe of play as of late.
The centerman has played 199 AHL games where he’s registered 45 goals and 116 points. This season, he has six goals and 30 points in 38 games with the Chicago Wolves.
With Sebastian Aho out with illness and the team having already traded away Jack Drury, they needed another center and the AHL All-Star was next in line.
Suzuki is also the 12th player to make their team debut with the Hurricanes this season and the last first-round pick of the 2019 draft to make their NHL debut.
