This week is Senior Bowl week, which typically marks the first major milestone on the road to the NFL Draft.
The Giants hold the third overall pick, along with two picks on Day Two at No. 34 and 65.
New York could be looking to draft their quarterback of the future with that first pick and might even move up to secure their target. However, they will also be looking to add depth and potential with their remaining selections.
Let’s identify some players at positions of need who should interest the Giants…
OT Anthony Belton, North Carolina State
The Giants’ offensive line was better in 2024 than it had been in the previous season, but the makeover is far from complete, so they are still looking to upgrade at the tackle position. They may also be ready to give up on Evan Neal as a full-time starting option.
According to reports, Belton has been one of the more impressive tackles at practice this week and he has a 6-foot-5 frame with 36-inch arms and good power and strength. One drawback could be that Belton played on the left side throughout his college career, but would have to move to the right unless the Giants opt to move Andrew Thomas.
CB Trey Amos, Mississippi
New York definitely needs upgrades in the secondary, and Amos could be a good option to fill the other starting cornerback position across from Deonte Banks. Amos has good size and length, enabling him to match up with bigger players and perhaps reducing the burden on Banks to try and hang with opposing receivers who have a size advantage on him.
Amos is a potential Day Two pick who had some good on-ball production this season as he broke up 13 passes and intercepted three. He has reportedly been standing out in practice this week.
S Billy Bowman, Oklahoma
Bowman is one of the best ballhawks in the draft with 11 interceptions in the past three seasons. Although he is undersized, Bowman showed some of that playmaking ability in practice on Tuesday as he had an interception and a pass breakup.
In 2023 alone, Bowman intercepted six passes, which is more than the entire Giants team managed last season. He also ran three of those back for a touchdown. Bowman would bring smarts and aggression to a Giants secondary that will be lacking in veteran leadership if Jason Pinnock leaves in free agency.
WR Jack Bech, TCU
With Darius Slayton expected to leave in free agency, the Giants could be looking to draft someone who can eventually start across from Malik Nabers. They had hoped Jalin Hyatt might develop into a starter-level player, but his hands have been too inconsistent in his first few seasons.
That’s not an issue for Bech, who is one of the most surehanded receivers in the draft. He also has good size at 6-foot-1 and 214 pounds, and gives a good effort as a blocker. Bech is widely regarded as a probable Day Two pick.
DT Walter Nolen, Mississippi
Rakeem Nuñez-Roches started 15 games for the Giants at defensive tackle in 2024, but New York will likely be confident they can develop a younger player to provide them with an upgrade next to Dexter Lawrence.
Nolen is a disruptive force with an explosive get-off who can produce against the run and as a pass rusher. He had 6.5 sacks during the 2024 season and could provide New York with a potential day-one starter in the second or third round.
