UFC Fight Night 249 post-event facts: Mackenzie Dern overtaking strawweight record books

The UFC’s in-cage product got off to a strong start in 2025 on Saturday, with UFC Fight Night 249 seeing nine of 14 fights end inside the distance, including a number of brutal knockouts.

It was submission that led the way in the main event, however, with Mackenzie Dern (15-5 MMA, 10-5 UFC) putting on one of her career-best performances en route to a third-round submission finish of Amanda Ribas (12-6 MMA, 7-5 UFC) in their strawweight main event rematch at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Almeida (7-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) has earned five of his seven career victories by stoppage. He’s finished all five of those wins by knockout.

Abdul Razak Alhassan (12-7 MMA, 6-7 UFC) fell to 2-4 with one no contest since he moved up to the UFC middleweight division in April 2021.

Roman Kopylov def. Chris Curtis

Kopylov (14-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) has earned all 12 of his career stoppage victories by knockout.

Kopylov has earned five of his six UFC victories by knockout.

Kopylov’s victory at the 4:59 mark of Round 3 is tied with six fights for the second-latest stoppage in a three-round UFC bout. Ricky Simon holds the record with his win at 5:00 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night 128.

Curtis (31-12 MMA, 5-4 UFC) suffered the first stoppage loss of his UFC career.

Christian Rodriguez def. Austin Bashi

Christian Rodriguez (12-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) improved to 2-1 since he moved up to the UFC featherweight division in March 2024.

Austin Bashi (13-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) had his 13-fight winning streak snapped for the first defeat of his career.

Jacobe Smith (10-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) has earned eight of his 10 career victories by stoppage. He’s finished all of those wins by knockout.
