3) Red Bull Salzburg 0-4 Brest
What a remarkable rise it has been for Brest who were playing amateur football only 20 years ago, as they continued their winning start to their first ever Champions League campaign with a stunning 4-0 away victory to RB Salzburg. The side who finished third in the French league last season are certainly enjoying their maiden campaign and have demonstrated they will certainly not be a pushover in this seasons competition.
4) Monaco 2-1 Barcelona
The Spanish giants had started the season in impressive form, however they were soundly defeated by a Monaco side who secured the three points through a second half strike from 18 year old George Ilenikhena. The Catalan club were not helped by the 10th minute sending off of Eric Garcia, however Monaco took full advantage to spring an early shock in this season’s Champions League.
5) Barcelona 4-1 Bayern Munich
Despite a defeat by Aston Villa, Bayern Munich had demolished Dinamo Zagreb 9-2 in their opening game with Harry Kane scoring four and were confident of coming away from the Camp Nou with at least a point. However, Barcelona and Raphinha had other ideas as the Brazilian’s hat-tick secured a comprehensive 4-1 victory and left Bayern languishing in the bottom half of the Champions League table.
