It was another action packed weekend of Premier League action – check out the Sports Alert News Team of the Week!
Goalkeeper
Emiliano Martinez: Saved a first-half penalty from Andreas Pereira to keep the scores level at 1-1. Made some big saves and was his usual vociferous presence as Villa ran out 3-1 winners.
Defenders
Joel Veltman: Was pivotal as Brighton kept a clean sheet at St James Park to secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory – calm and composed on the ball and did his defending well.
John Stones: The rock on which Man City’s defence is built and even popped up with a towering header in the 95th minute to win the game.
Michael Keane: Has this lad played as a striker in a previous life?! A great strike to double Everton’s lead whilst he was also rock solid at the back to keep a clean sheet and see the game out for the Toffees.
Josko Gvardiol: A great finish to level the game up for Man City at Wolves. Does his job to great effect with the added bonus of having the ability to score from just about anywhere.
Midfielders
Mohammed Salah: Didn’t let Nicholas Jackson or Robert Sanchez put him off as he smashed home his penalty to give Liverpool the lead and provided the assist for Curtis Jones. Was a constant threat to the Chelsea defence with his direct running that Levi Colwill just could not handle.
Curtis Jones: The best player on the pitch at Anfield, ran the game from midfield, took his goal brilliantly and was unlucky to not win another penalty. The true test is for the young man to maintain this form consistently.
Dejan Kulusevski: An absolute machine on the right-hand side of Tottenham’s midfield. Scored the equalizer to get Spurs back in the game and tore West Ham open in the second half – a brilliant performance.
Alejandro Garnacho: A beautiful finish to equalize for Man Utd just after half-time, kept on running and was a constant menace on the left wing.
Forwards
Son Heung-Min: The Spurs captain stepped up when his team needed him and put the gloss on a fine attacking team performance with the final goal in the 4-1 win vs West Ham.
Justin Kluivert: Slotted home the penalty that all but secured victory for Bournemouth against Arsenal, caused plenty of problems for the Gunners defence and looks to be getting better with each game
