This came full circle for Mackenzie Dern in her last trip to the octagon.
Back in January, Dern was given the chance to avenge her first professional loss, which came against long-time contender Amanda Ribas. The two headlined UFC Fight Night 249 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. That night, Dern showed her improvement and evolution in MMA. Having lost their first fight by decision, Dern settled the score by winning with an armbar in the third round of their contest. It was a big win for the jiu-jitsu world champion.

Dern (15-5 MMA, 10-5 UFC) returns to the cage this Saturday in the co-main event of UFC 321, which takes place at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. She takes on veteran Virna Jandiroba (22-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC) for the vacant UFC women’s strawweight title. This bout is also a rematch, with Dern having beaten Jandiroba back in 2020.
