For Bruce Buffer, 'honor' of announcing UFC White House card can't come soon enough

Bruce Buffer can’t hardly wait until it’s time.

The veteran UFC octagon announcer of almost 30 years is very much looking forward to working the promotion’s highly anticipated and unprecedented White House event slated for next summer.

“It’s an honor to appear at the White House and on the White House grounds,” Buffer said in an interview with Fox News. “Keeping the whole event non-political and the sporting event that it is, it’ll be probably the highest-watched pay-per-view in the history of pay-per-views. … It’s gonna be incredible. The fight roster will probably be incredible. You can’t really say anything negative about it. It’s gonna be amazing.”

Originally planned as part of a celebration to honor the 250th anniversary of the United States becoming a country, the UFC White House event is expected to take place a few weeks before Independence Day on July 4, 2026. While no date has been officially announced, President Donald Trump said during a speech to Navy personnel this past weekend that the UFC White House event will take place June 14 – which is also his 80th birthday.

UFC CEO Dana White recently revealed renderings of what the setup will look like on the south lawn of the White House, which has only upped the ante. White also has promised the UFC White House event will feature the “baddest card of all time.”

With virtually every current UFC champion and big-name fighter lobbying to be included, the opportunity for White to accomplish just that is there – and Buffer can’t wait to see what the card looks like.

“Every fighter on the roster wants to fight at that event,” Buffer said. “Conor McGregor, he’s always saying, ‘I want to come back, I want to come back.’ And we haven’t seen from him with all he’s been doing over the last years, but if that’s an event he’s going to come back at, that would make it big. If Jon Jones comes in to fight whomever – whether it’s Tom Aspinall, whatever – that would make it bigger. There’s so many great fighters on the UFC roster. It’s gonna be an awesome night, there’s no question.”
