Texas A&M women’s golf makes history with back-to-back wins at Folds of Honor Tournament

The No. 7 Texas A&M women’s golf team is off to an excellent start to its season and has etched its name into the program’s history book after a first-place finish at the Folds of Honor Tournament.

On Wednesday, the Aggie golf team took home their second first-place trophy, something that’s never been done before in the team’s history. It wasn’t an easy task either. They had to come back from being down three shots in the final round to finish at +7, with Baylor coming in second at +10.

Freshman Bryann Kort and junior Sky Sudberry both finished inside the top five, with Kort tied for second (-3) and Sudberry tied for fifth (+1). There is a phrase in any competition where a team is “battle-tested,” meaning they faced tough opponents and can hold up under pressure. That’s exactly what this last tournament displayed from head coach Gerrod Chadwell’s team.

“Winning is hard, but it just makes me happy to see them playing well. It was impressive to see the team be comfortable in this setting because I know it only gets harder from here. I am very proud of Brynn, and it shows that it pays off to play summer golf. You get comfortable with your game by playing and really our whole team did that this summer. I am excited about the win and to see how we improve moving forward.” – Chadwell

Texas A&M will try to make it three in a row when they are back in action on October 7–8 at the NB3 Matchplay at Twin Warriors.
