Alex Pereira not expecting championship trilogy after defeating Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 320 — ‘The story will be over’

Alex Pereira is ready for a new chapter.

Avenging his loss to Ankalaev would leave both fighters tied at one apiece, setting up a potential rubber match. Unfortunately for “Big Ank” fans, it doesn’t sound like the Brazilian is interested in a championship trilogy, but remains open to any and all possibilities after next month’s do-over.

“I think the story will be over,” Pereira told MMA Junkie via Stake. “It’s obviously out of my control. It’s up to the UFC. If they want to do it again, I’ll fight anyone. To be honest, from everything we’ve seen, I think with him losing, I don’t think he’s going to fight for the title any more.”

“It’s always going to be a tough fight,“ Pereira continued. ”Both [of us] want to win. Both want to take the title. I’m going to do my best and I’m going to do everything I can to be feeling extra well on that night, to be able to impose my rhythm and be able to impose my gameplan and be able to come out with the win.”
