The Jets are keeping a homegrown, rising star for the foreseeable future.

New York has agreed to a three-year, $45 million deal with LB Jamien Sherwood, SNY NFL Insider Connor Hughes confirms.

His new contract comes with $30 million guaranteed, according to multiple reports.

Sherwood, 25, had a breakout year during the 2024 season, leading the NFL in solo tackles with 98 (158 combined tackles) to go along with two sacks and three passes defended in 17 games (16 starts).

The Auburn product was selected with the No. 146 pick in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Sherwood started just seven games over his first three seasons in New York, totaling just 77 tackles with 46 coming in 2023.

With veteran LB C.J. Mosley managing to play in just four games due to injury, Sherwood stepped up and excelled in the starting role on defense.

By keeping Sherwood, new head coach Aaron Glenn and defensive coordinator Steve Wilks have their starting linebackers locked in with Sherwood and Quincy Williams.
