The San Jose Sharks recalled goaltender Georgi Romanov on Wednesday after they traded Vitek Vanecek to the Florida Panthers.

Askarov is dealing with a lower-body injury and is skating back in San Jose. Romanov joins the Sharks in Colorado before the final game of a seven-game road trip.

The top Sharks goalie prospect has played 13 games in the NHL and has four wins with a .896 save %.

Romanov has been solid for the ‘Cuda this season. The Russian netminder has an 11-6-5 record, a .905 %, and a 3.10 goals against average. Romanov made his NHL debut at the end of the 2023-24 season and featured in two games.

The Sharks were last in the league, just trying to get past the season’s final two games. Romanov did not start in either game but was forced into action in a tough spot.

Askarov is day-to-day and will likely be called up once he is healthy and has played a few AHL games.
