Predators Acquire Jesse Ylönen in AHL Forward Swap with Lightning

The Nashville Predators on Wednesday acquired forward Jesse Ylönen from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for forward Anthony Angello.

The 25-year-old Ylönen has appeared in 47 games for the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch this season, picking up 25 points (8 goals, 17 assists), a +5 rating and 18 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 193-pound forward ranked tied for third on the Crunch in points and assists and tied for fourth in goals in 2024-25.

Originally selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the second round (No. 35 overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft, Ylönen made his NHL debut on May 12, 2021, against the Edmonton Oilers. He went on to play in 111 games across four seasons for the Canadiens, recording 29 points (12 goals, 17 assists). At the AHL level, he has 110 points (42 goals, 68 assists) in 167 games with Syracuse and the Laval Rocket.

Angello skated in 41 games for the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals this season, recording seven goals and 14 points with a plus-5 rating. The 6-foot-4, 228-pound forward has played in 320 career AHL contests with the Admirals, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and Springfield Thunderbirds, registering 68 goals and 133 points in his career. He made his NHL debut on Jan. 31, 2020, with the Pittsburgh Penguins and has three goals and five points in 31 career NHL games.

Ylönen has been assigned to the Admirals, whose next game is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. CT against the Iowa Wild.
