Sabres Notebook: Tuch Held Out Of Practice, Levi Named AHL Player Of The Week

Sabres winger Alex Tuch did not practice on Monday.

The Buffalo Sabres practiced at Key Bank Center on Monday in preparation for the second game of their two-game homestand on Tuesday night against the Anaheim Ducks. The Sabres have won five straight at home after the 8-2 victory over the New York Rangers on Saturday but could be without winger Alex Tuch.

Tuch left the game after being checked along the boards by Rangers defenseman K’Andre Miller. The winger did not return for the final 15 minutes of regulation, and on Monday did not take part in practice.

“In my discussion with him, I don’t feel too concerned, but we’ll get more of an update tomorrow and see how he’s doing.” Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff said after the game.

Ruff indicated on Monday that Tuch and veteran winger Jason Zucker were held out for maintenance and that they will take the morning skate on Tuesday to see if they are game-ready.

The Ducks will likely be without center Trevor Zegras, who was offered a hearing by the NHL’s Department of Player Safety for a hit on Detroit’s Michael Rasmussen on Sunday.

Sabres prospect Devon Levi continues to thrive with the Rochester Americans, as the 23-year-old was named the AHL Player of the Week on Monday after a pair of shutout wins over Cleveland and Toronto last week, including a 1-0 shootout win over the Marlies on Saturday.

Levi has an 18-6-2 record, with a 2.17 GAA, .918 save %, and five shutouts this season.
