Northamptonshire all-rounder Justin Broad has signed a new contract to run until the end of the 2026 county season.

The 24-year-old has twice been named the club’s Young Player of the Year since making his first team debut in 2023.

Broad has scored more than 1,000 runs in all formats of the game, including six half-centuries, and last summer took a career-best 7-33 in a County Championship game against Gloucestershire.

He has also played nine T20 internationals for Germany, although he was born in South Africa.

“He’s a three-dimensional cricketer who is young, hungry and his work ethic is second to none,” said Northants batting coach Greg Smith.

“I think his ceiling can be very high, in four-day cricket his bowling has really developed and he showed some really promising signs with the bat in the one-day and T20 games.”

Northants start the 2025 season on 4 April with a Championship Division Two game against Kent at Wantage Road.

Following last season’s relegation, they appointed former Australia batter Darren Lehmann as their head coach in October on a two-year contract.
