New York Islanders No. 1 defenseman Noah Dobson is rumored to be on the NHL trade block, and the San Jose Sharks should be all over trying to acquire him.
Dobson is having a down season with 24 points (6 goals, 18 assists) in 46 games. In 23-24, the right-handed defenseman put up a career-high 70 points (10 goals, 60 assists) in 79 games.
Dobson is 25 years old and will be a restricted free agent this summer with arbitration rights. Earlier this month, a report said the star d-man was available for trade.
“He is available for trade”.
Sources indicate that #NYI defenseman Noah Dobson is indeed available for the right price on the NHL trade market, while Lou Lamoriello seems keen to retain Brock Nelson.

On Wednesday, Dobson switched agents per THN’s New York Islanders team site editor Stefen Rosner.
Per industry sources, #Isles Noah Dobson has changed agents from Andrew Maloney to Judd Moldaver and Olivier Fortier of Wasserman.

Switching agents may not seem like a big deal, but often, the reasoning for the switch is not getting a trade or contract done the way the player wants.
Top industry insiders like Jeff Marek see Dobson’s change as a big deal.
According to The Athletic, the San Jose Sharks prospect pool is the best in the NHL, but it lacks top-tier defensemen.
Sam Dickinson will be great, but after that, potential top talent begins to drop off a bit.
Shakir Mukhamadullin and Luca Cagnoni look like solid NHL players. However, adding a 25-year-old, right-shot defenseman who has proven he can score in the league rarely becomes available via trade.
When San Jose traded Mikael Granlund and Cody Ceci to the Dallas Stars, GM Mike Grier got back a first-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.
The last time Grier had two firsts to play with, he dealt one to the Nashville Predators to acquire Yaroslav Askarov, who looks like he will be the Sharks No. 1 goalie for a very long time.
Judd Muldaver and Olivier Fortier of Wasserman Hockey are now representing Dobson, with Fortier as the lead agent.
Moldaver represents some of the biggest names in hockey, like superstars Connor McDavid and Auston Matthews. Other clients include Zach Werenski, Roman Josi, and Brett Pesce.
Fortier represents Alexis Lafreniere, Anthony Mantha, and the Joseph brothers, to name a few.
Per Rosner, Dobson is currently on long-term injured reserve with a lower-body injury but is expected to return to the ice during the second week of this 4 Nations Face-Off break.
