The Nashville Predators announced Friday afternoon that they acquired defenseman Mark Friedman from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for future considerations.
Friedman, 29, has played 93 NHL games since being drafted 86th overall by Philadelphia in the 2014 NHL Draft, scoring four goals, nine assists, and 13 points.
The 5-foot-11 Friedman is a depth defender who offers the Predators a veteran presence as an AHL journeyman. Despite his smaller stature, Friedman is not afraid to mix things up physically, either.
Friedman has spent parts of each of the last two seasons with the Canucks, appearing in 28 total games and scoring one assist. The Toronto, Ont., native averaged 14:04 across his five appearances for Vancouver this season, typically filling in for Filip Hronek after he suffered a lower-body injury in November.
