J.T. Miller Has Actually Calmed Down Since His Childhood Days

J.T. Miller is known to have a fiery personality as he’s very competitive and intense while he’s on the ice.

Vincent Trocheck actually played with Miller through their childhood in Pittsburgh and believe it or not, the veteran forward has become a tamer version of his former self in the NHL.

“He’s actually calmed down a lot since then,” Trocheck said. “He’s definitely calmer now. When we were nine, ten years old, our dads would have to come down and settle him down. He was smacking his stick up his head, so things have changed a little bit there.”

Miller still holds that same intensity though, which he’s brought to the New York Rangers, helping change the team’s identity.

Miller was traded to the Rangers last week and he’s moved in with Trocheck. For these two lifelong best friends, being teammates in the NHL is a dream come true.

“This has been a pipe dream for 10 years in the making,” Trocheck said. “We came in the league around the same time, grew up together since we were 9 years old, live about 500 yards from each other back in Pittsburgh, our kids are really close. … We’ve been talking about it forever. It means a lot.”
