UFC president and CEO Dana White quickly condemned remarks made by fighter Bryce Mitchell during a podcast in which he referred to Adolf Hitler as “a good guy.”
White addressed the matter at a press conference following the Power Slap event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
“I’ve heard a lot of dumb, ignorant s*** in my day, but this one’s probably the worst,” White told reporters.
“Hitler is one of the most disgusting and evil human beings to ever walk the face of the earth,” he continued. “And anyone who tries to take an opposing position is a moron. That’s the problem with the internet and social media. You provide a platform for a lot of dumb, ignorant people.”
White added that UFC officials have reached out to Mitchell and made their disgust clear. However, when asked if Mitchell was facing any punishment, White cited the right to free speech and asserted that Mitchell could be duly punished by “getting his a** whooped” in the ring.
Mitchell has been fighting in UFC since 2018, compiling a record of 17-2-0. His last match was on Dec. 7, 2024, when he knocked out Kron Gracie in the third round. His next fight has not yet been scheduled.
The incident and White’s response are the latest low for MMA and its fans, said Uncrowned’s Ariel Helwani.
“Nothing will be done, and I don’t even care if anything is done,” Helwani said on social media. “Say what you want. It just continues to baffle me at how unbelievably stupid – not to mention bigoted – some of the people in the sport or associated with the sport can be.”
