The Boston Bruins fell to the New Jersey Devils by a 5-1 final score on Jan. 22. It was one of the Bruins’ worst games of the season, as they were outplayed in every area of the ice.

Following the game, Bruins forward Morgan Geekie got real about his and his teammates play in the club’s embarrassing loss to New Jersey.
“We’re trying to find an answer in here, and what we’re doing is not good enough,” Geekie said. “We know it. It’s embarrassing, frankly, how we’re letting these games slip away from us, and there’s not that many of them left. We know the position we’re in and what it’s going to take to climb out of it. We’ll try to get back on the horse tomorrow.”
It is hard to disagree with Geekie’s thoughts on the Bruins’ play. He is also correct when noting that the Bruins are not in a position to throw games away, especially where they are in the standings. There are several teams fighting for playoff spots, so they need as many points as possible.
Geekie was the Bruins’ loan goal scorer in this contest and has three goals and five points over his last five contests.
We will now need to wait and see if Geekie and the Bruins can bounce back in a very important matchup against the Ottawa Senators on Jan. 23 from here.
