San Jose Sharks Trade Justin Bailey To Anaheim Ducks For Pavol Regenda

The San Jose Sharks and Anaheim Ducks announced they have completed a trade with the Sharks sending forward Justin Bailey to the Ducks in exchange for forward Pavol Regenda.

Bailey has seven goals and 14 points in 33 games for the San Jose Barracuda this season, Regenda has four goals and 16 points in 36 games for the San Diego Gulls.

The 29-year-old Bailey was the Sharks’ nominee for the 2024 Bill Masterton Trophy after playing the majority of the season in the NHL for the first time in his career. He posted five goals and 14 points in 59 NHL games last season.

He has 23 points in 141 career NHL games for the Sharks, Vancouver Canucks, Philadelphia Flyers, and Buffalo Sabres.

A native of Michalovce, SVK., Regenda has one goal and three points in 19 career NHL games, all with the Ducks. He signed with the team as a free agent in June 2022.

The 25-year-old has 36 goals and 75 points in 140 career AHL games. He has represented Slovakia at three World Championships and the 2022 Olympics.

Both players are big power forwards, the Gulls add experience and a great locker room presence in Bailey, while the Barracuda get younger and bank on Regenda hitting another level with a new team.

Both players will be free agents at season’s end, Regenda will be a Group 6 free agent.
