According to NHL insider Frank Seravalli, the Calgary Flames are one of the teams that have “checked in” on Buffalo Sabres forward Dylan Cozens.

Seravalli also reported that Flames general manager Craig Conroy “has been on the prowl for a young top-six center” that can be a long-term piece of their group and shoots right. With Cozens being 23 years old and locked up under contract until the end of the 2029-30 season, it makes sense that he has grabbed the attention of the Flames.
Cozens would undoubtedly be a major addition to the Flames’ roster if they acquired him. This is because he would provide their top six with a big boost and be an obvious choice for their power play.

The Flames are not the only team that has been connected to Cozens, though. The Detroit Red Wings have been heavily linked to the Sabres center. In addition, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported that he heard the Sabres and Red Wings were close to completing a Cozens trade.
It will be fascinating to see if the Flames make a big push to acquire Cozens from here. One Flames star who could make sense for the Sabres is in a potential swap defenseman Rasmus Andersson. Like Cozens, he has been in the rumor mill, and it’s no secret that the Sabres could use a top-pairing, right-shot defenseman.
