The Hockey Show: Outdoor hockey, anarchy out west, broadcast talk with Blake Bolden

The Hockey Show is back for the first show of 2025!

This week, hosts Roy Bellamy and David Dwork welcomed former professional hockey player and current broadcaster for ESPN and Amazon Prime NHL Blake Bolden.

They chatted about her transition from player to broadcaster and the challenges she faced, and about her recent debut as a color commentator for ESPN during their broadcast of the Colorado Avalanche facing the Utah Hockey Club during the holidays.

She also discussed her days as an NHL scout with the Los Angeles Kings, gave Roy some tips on learning to skate and play hockey, and she also explained why she walked out of the theatre when she went to see Gladiator 2.

During this week’s Slapshots, Roy and Dave’s wins, losses and hot takes include a rookie goalie in Montreal turning heads, Nikita Zadarov taking out Stuart Skinner, Jacob Trouba’s overtime snafu in Anaheim and MacKenzie Weegar’s hilarious interaction with a Ducks fan right after.

They also dove into the latest with the Florida Panthers, as the Cats played a pair of games out west this week against Colorado and Utah, and an amazing, profanity-laced viral video of a former Panthers captain who is now working his way up the coaching ranks in Europe.
