Daniel Sprong Clears Waivers, Assigned To Coachella Valley Firebirds

Daniel Sprong has cleared waivers and been assigned to the Seattle Kraken’s AHL affiliate Coachella Valley Firebirds.

Sprong was traded from the Vancouver Canucks to the Kraken for future considerations on Nov. 8.

The 27-year-old had three points in nine games with the Canucks and two points in 10 games with the Kraken.

The Amsterdam, Ned., native made the AHL All-Rookie Team, All-Star Game, and led all rookies in goals with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the 2017-18 season. He has 44 goals and 98 points in 104 career AHL games.

Despite averaging just 11:57 of ice time per game through his 363 game NHL career Sprong has scored 87 goals. Despite this solid rate he can not seem to stick with one team for an extended period of time.

After two straight losses in the Calder Cup Finals the Firebirds are having another solid season but would benefit greatly from Sprong’s offensive ability if he does end up playing AHL games.
