Mets sign INF Jared Young to one-year contract

The Mets signed infielder Jared Young to a one-year split contract on Monday.

Young, 29, split the 2024 season with the St. Louis Cardinals’ Triple-A Memphis Redbirds and KBO’s Doosan Bears.

In 38 games for the Bears, Young slashed .326/.420/.660 with 10 home runs and 39 RBI.

On the Redbirds, Young logged 74 games while slashing .285/.411/.506 with 11 home runs and 35 RBI.

Most recently in MLB during the 2023 season with the Chicago Cubs, Young slashed .186/.364/.368 with two home runs and eight RBI over 16 games.

He made his MLB debut Sept. 16, 2022 with the Cubs and slashed .263/.364.368 in six games.

The Cubs selected Young from Old Dominion with the No. 465 overall pick in the 15th round of the 2017 MLB Draft.
