Luka Doncic, meanwhile, has been electric in his first full stretch with the Lakers, averaging a jaw-dropping 41.3 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 8.3 assists through four appearances. But it’s not just the stars making noise. Role players Rui Hachimura and Jake LaRavia have stepped up significantly, both posting career-highs in scoring and energizing the second unit with consistent production.
Without James serving as the team’s leading scorer and locker room voice, players have leaned heavily on head coach JJ Redick, whose assertive and detail-oriented approach has quickly earned the locker room’s respect. The Lakers are playing with a renewed sense of urgency and identity under his guidance.
It remains unclear how Los Angeles will re-integrate James once he returns, given the chemistry and rhythm already taking shape. Rumors have even surfaced that James has begun distancing himself from the franchise, fueling speculation that a potential trade could be more likely than a return to Crypto.com Arena in the near future.
