Parrish girls, Saint Stephen's boys win regions, Cannon and Gordic-Ronderos advance

Girls golf

Parrish wins 3A Region-3: The Parrish Community girls golf team won its region on Monday, a week after claiming a district title. The Bulls shot a 301, beating out second-place Lutz George Steinbrenner (310) by nine strokes. Venice carded a 319 to finish in third place, Lakewood Ranch shot 325 to finish in fourth and Riverview shot 366 to come in seventh.

Evyn Cannon, a sophomore at Venice, earned individual medalist honors with a 72. Natalie Angelo, a junior at Parrish, placed second with a 73. Phoenix Scanlan, a junior at Parrish, shot 74 and tied for third. Ella Gardner, a junior at Venice, shot a 75 to tie for fifth. Cannon will advance to the 3A state championship as an individual.

Boys golf

Saint Stephen’s wins 1A Region-3: The Saint Stephen’s Episcopal boys golf team held on to win a regional championship by one stroke on Monday.

The Falcons finished with a 300, edging out Cambridge Christian (301) and Bishop Verot (305). Eddie Gu, a junior at Saint Stephen’s, tied for second place individually with a 71. Niko Gordic-Ronderos, a freshman at Cardinal Mooney, also tied for second with a 71. He will advance to the 1A state championship as an individual.
