LAS VEGAS – Jeremiah Wells is coming back at UFC Fight Night 263 to show everyone he’s a huge problem for the welterweight division.

After back-to-back losses against Max Griffin and Carlston Harris that were followed by a 20-month layoff, Wells (12-4-1 MMA, 4-2 UFC) said he’s in the right place physically and mentally. He’s ready to show it against Themba Gorimbo (14-5 MMA, 4-2 UFC) on Saturday at UFC Apex (ESPN+).

“I’ve been recovering, just recovering and staying focused and trying to stay fight ready and improving also. I’d be lying to say (it wasn’t hard). It definitely was. It was tough. I just had to keep my faith high and keep pushing forward through those trials and tribulations. I appreciate every moment of it.

“(I’ve been) being more spiritual and being one with myself and knowing how great I am. Like, I am the chosen one. I don’t have this power for no reason.”

Wells, 38, is eager to go head-to-head with Gorimbo in a striking match. If that’s how it plays out, he’s confident he will prevail.

“Matchup is good,” Wells said. “Styles make fights, and this is definitely going to be a banger. It’s going to be fireworks, and it’s going to be the one that really connects and has more power and technique and is actually composed.”
