We’re about halfway through the 2025 NFL season and getting into the second half of the fantasy football season for managers. Injuries have been very difficult to navigate this season and we had a few more names added to the list after Week 8. Below we’re going to be tracking all the latest news and updates throughout the week from the NFL injury report for Week 9, plus providing some fantasy football analysis.

Week 8 injury recap

Cam Skattebo, RB, Giants (ankle): The injuries just keep coming for the Giants and their fans. After last week’s brutal loss, New York sustained another big loss in Week 8 vs. the Eagles. Not only did the G-Men fall to a rival but the rookie Skattebo was carted off after what was revealed as a dislocated ankle. He was taken to a nearby hospital for further evaluation and underwent surgery on Sunday night. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting Skattebo will miss the rest of the season. Tyrone Tracy Jr. becomes the lead back again for the Giants — and a must-add in fantasy — with Devin Singletary mixing in.

Quinshon Judkins, RB, Browns (shoulder): The Browns got blown out by the Patriots in Week 8 and the rookie RB left due to a shoulder injury in the second half. Cleveland has its bye week in Week 9 and the game was out of reach when Judkins left. For now, Judkins is considered day-to-day, giving him a chance to return in Week 10, but we’ll be monitoring for updates.

Saquon Barkley, RB, Eagles (groin): With the Eagles leading in the second half, Barkley broke off a 28-yard run but pulled up after he went out of bounds. He was deemed questionable to return and didn’t with the Eagles up 31-13 at that point. Philly is on bye in Week 9, which should give Barkley plenty of time to heal up. Tank Bigsby was the main back to get carries once Barkley was injured. He isn’t a bad anticipatory add if you’re a Barkley manager. Will Shipley is the other back to consider.

Puka Nacua, WR, Rams (ankle): The Rams were on bye in Week 8, allowing Nacua to rest for an additional week after missing Week 7. We’ll have to see if Nacua can get in multiple practices but he’ll be one of the focuses of the injury report. If Nacua is back, he’s in your lineup. If he’s out, we’ll have to weigh our options on the Rams as they face the Saints in Week 9.

Brock Bowers, TE, Raiders (knee): Bowers hasn’t played since Week 4 due to a nagging knee injury. The expectation is for the star tight end to return in Week 9 vs. the Jaguars with Las Vegas coming off the bye. Geno Smith and the Raiders offense have been a mess this season. Bowers’ return should help things but we’ll have to see how much practice Bowers gets in, and whether he’ll be on a pitch count in Week 9.
