ABU DHABI – Hamdy Abdelwahab is not afraid of Valter Walker’s submission threat.
Abdelwahab (7-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) returned to the win column by delivering a beatdown of Chris Barnett en route to a unanimous decision win Saturday at Etihad Arena.
He was asked about Walker (15-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC), who was about to fight Louie Sutherland. Walker wound up submitting Sutherland in less than two minutes with a heel hook and called out Abdelwahab. The Egyptian fighter welcomed Walker’s callout before it was made.
“If he wants to do a grappling match, I’m ready,” Abdelwahab said during the UFC 321 post-fight news conference. “Forget about MMA. If he thinks he can heel hook me, let’s do it.”
Luckily for Abdelwahab, Walker is also looking to compete on the UFC Fight Night 265 card in Qatar.
“Do you guys have space for me in Qatar?” Abdelwahab asked. “If you guys have space for me, I can just get my bags and my team, and we go straight there.”
