UFC Vancouver: Djorden Santos full post-fight interview
UFC Fight Night 262 winner Djorden Santos talks to MMA Junkie and other reporters post-fight after his unanimous decision victory over Danny Barlow.
VANCOUVER – Djorden Santos met the media Saturday after his win over Danny Barlow at UFC Fight Night 262.
Santos (11-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) outlasted Barlow (9-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) in a back-and-forth fight on the prelims at Rogers Arena in Vancouver. Santos left the fight with a severely battered face from the Fight of the Night contender, but was thankful for the win.
The 28-year-old Santos, from Brazil, won his way into the UFC through DWCS a little more than a year ago. But like many DWCS graduates in their UFC debuts, he came up short earlier this year in a decision setback to Ozzy Diaz. He was a 2-1 favorite in that fight.
But he thinks the oddsmakers had things wrong if they made a correction on him based on that debut. Barlow was as much as a -300 betting favorite at UFC Vancouver.
“How dare you make me an underdog in this fight?” Santos said at his post-fight news conference. “I’m a dog, but I’m not an underdog. So keep putting me as a ‘dog so the people who support me can make money.”
Santos, who said he thought he broke Barlow toward the end of the second round. He also said he felt some pressure based on the result from his debut.
“I knew that I needed to win this fight, and I came here to win, but I have a lot more to show,” Santos told MMA Junkie. “I was certain that I won because he just caught me one moment in the second round, and I finished that round better than him.”
