Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is expected to return to the lineup this week to face the Chicago Bears, but he didn’t practice on Monday with his teammates, according to The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec.
Jackson hasn’t played since suffering a hamstring injury in a Week 4 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The two-time MVP has missed Baltimore’s last two games as the Ravens have dropped to 1-5.

It’s been a stunning start to the season for the reigning AFC North champion Ravens, who were projected in the preseason as one of the favorites to compete for a Super Bowl.
Head coach John Harbaugh said after a Week 6 loss to the Rams that he expected Jackson to return to face the Bears following last week’s bye. But, as of now, he’s apparently not ready to practice coming out of the bye week.

Backup Cooper Rush has started in Jackson’s absence in a 44-10 loss to the Texans and the 17-3 loss to the Rams. The Ravens benched Rush as they failed to score a touchdown against the Rams. They replaced him with third-string quarterback Tyler Huntley in the fourth quarter of a game in which the Ravens got booed by their home fans.

The Ravens hadn’t provided an update on Jackson’s status at the time of Monday’s report, and there have been no reports of a setback in Jackson’s injury recovery. It’s presumed that he’s still expected to return to the field by Sunday, but his absence from practice raises an obvious concern.
In the event that he wouldn’t be able to play, it’s not clear if Rush or Huntley would get the call. Rush is still listed at the No. 2 quarterback on Baltimore’s depth chart.
After the Bears, the Ravens face the Dolphins and Vikings before a stretch of four games in five against AFC North opponents. They’ll face the Browns, the Bengals twice and the Steelers in addition to an inter-division game against the New York Jets from Weeks 11 through 15. Winning most of those games will be key to Baltimore’s hopes of rallying back into the playoff picture.
