Joe Rogan: Jon Jones vs. Alex Pereira would be 'the biggest fight in human history'

Joe Rogan thinks a matchup between Jon Jones and Alex Pereira would not only set records for UFC, but would gain appeal on a level unlike anything previously.

Longtime UFC commentator Rogan want to see former two-division UFC champion Jones (28-1 MMA, 22-1 UFC) share the octagon with current light heavyweight titleholder Pereira (13-3 MMA, 10-2 UFC). Both men have expressed interest in the fight, and with UFC CEO Dana White promising a legendary fight card for June’s White House event in Washington, D.C., it’s a pairing Rogan said should not be ignored.

“The big money fight is Alex and Jon Jones at the White House,: Rogan said on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast. “Are you fucking kidding me? Catchweight. Make it 225. It doesn’t have to be for a title. Make it the Baddest Mother Fucker upper edition.

“The Jon Jones vs. Alex Pereira fight would probably be the biggest fight in human history. As a matchup, you have the greatest of all time in Jon Jones and arguably the most destructive striker that’s ever competed. No one is like that guy ‘Poatan.'”

It remains to be seen if the UFC will seriously consider the bout. White has essentially ruled Jones out of fighting on the White House card, but Jones is confident he can sway opinions back into fulfilling his wish. Moreover, Pereira has expressed extreme desire in making it happen and is willing to go to heavyweight.

If Jon really thinks he’s going to fight Alex Pereira, he’s getting ready,” Rogan said. “He’s at least getting ready in his mind.”
