Cody Gibson vs. Aori Qileng UFC Vancouver preview
Gibson (21-11 MMA, 3-6 UFC) aims to bounce back after a submission loss to Da’Mon Blackshear in March. That result ended the momentum of back-to-back wins over Brian Kelleher and Chad Anheliger. Aoriqileng (25-12 MMA, 3-4 UFC) is also looking to return to the win column after a decision loss to Raul Rosas Jr. at UFC 306. A no contest outing against Daniel Marcos followed his last victory, which was a unanimous nod vs. Johnny Munoz in October 2023.
Cody Gibson vs. Aori Qileng UFC Vancouver expert pick, prediction
Serving as a solid action-fight offering at bantamweight is a battle between Cody Gibson and Aoriqileng.
Gibson, who is a longtime veteran and hardcore fan favorite, will offer plenty of problems for Aoriqileng, ranging from his size to wrestling ability.
I was also impressed by Gibson’s boxing in his last bout, but I’m not sure how willing he’ll be to give his opponent his favored win condition.
Aoriqileng may not jump off the page to most, but he’s proven to be a very capable action fighter for the level he is at.
“The Mongolian Murderer” has solid size and strength despite being a former flyweight, and has made steady, marked improvements to his wrestling since working stateside at Fight Ready MMA.
I suspect this to be a close and competitive contest regardless of the result, but I’ll officially pick the person with a better gastank in Aoriqileng to survive a tough first half of the fight to pull away down the stretch for a tight win on the scorecards.
The pick is Aoriqileng via decision.
