49ers reportedly expect Brock Purdy, Ricky Pearsall to return Week 8 vs. Texans

It appears reinforcements are on the way for the 49ers.

With George Kittle set to return to San Francisco’s Week 7 game against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday Night Football, two additional key starters are inching closer to getting back to the field.

The 49ers expect quarterback Brock Purdy and wide receiver Ricky Pearsall to return in Week 8 against the Texans in Houston, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported in a column published Saturday.

Purdy will miss his fifth game of the season due to a turf toe injury.

Mac Jones has filled in as the starter under center in the meantime, with a 4-1 record as QB1. He’ll get the start again on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Pearsall was off to a promising start to a sophomore breakout season until he was sidelined with a knee issue. The 25-year-old receiver will miss his third consecutive game on Sunday.

In the meantime, Jones will aim to continue to keep the 49ers afloat with Kittle now back in the mix.

And help is on the way.
