“The King” got one final walkout in front of his home city Saturday.
UFC Hall of Famer Jose Aldo entered the floor of Farmasi Arena down the walkout tunnel to his signature “Run This Town” walkout song and laid down the gloves center-cage at UFC Fight Night 261 in Rio de Janeiro.
The emotional UFC featherweight great’s family joined him as they embraced next to the leather he laid down.
Aldo, 39, officially retired in May from active MMA competition. It was the second time in his career that he did so. He had lost three of his four most recent outings at the time of the decision. Regardless of the defeats prior to his career’s end, Aldo leaves behind an all-time legacy, widely regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters ever.
