I spoke to former Jets safety Erik Coleman yesterday about how the team is doing under new head coach Aaron Glenn (pictured), who was previously defensive coordinator at the Detroit Lions: “It’s been a disappointing season so far, not having a win yet, not having a turnover on defence.
“I think the effort’s there, the talent’s there, but when you see a free runner in the end zone, that’s a lack of communication, partly because there’s some players who are new to the team. They’ve been missing Jermaine Johnson, one of their best pass rushers, but he’s back this week, so hopefully they can get pressure on the Broncos quarterback because that allows them to force turnovers.
“But people have to remember they’re one of the youngest teams in the NFL. They’ve got a new coach, a new head of the organisation, so it’s gonna take time to implement all the principles that the coach wants. Once the team starts to buy-in, and stops beating themselves, they’ll start to have fun and have some success.”
