St Helens have confirmed second-rowers Joe Batchelor and James Bell will leave the club at the end of the season.

Bell, 31, arrived from Leigh following spells in New Zealand and France.

In a club statement, Saints wrote Bell was “exploring a new opportunity” as he leaves the club after his fourth season.

The Scotland international has played 82 times for the Saints, scoring nine tries, and featured in Friday’s defeat at the hands of former club Leigh.

“This is the first time that I’ve considered a club a home with my family, and I’m gutted to be leaving,” Bell told Saints’ website.

Meanwhile Batchelor, 30, has been with Saints since 2019 and has gone on to make over 100 appearances for the club.

His best try-scoring campaign came in 2022, touching down seven times, as Saints picked up their fourth consecutive Super League title.

He became an England international the same year, scoring on debut.

Saints also confirmed Will Roberts, Dayon Sambou and Jonny Vaughan will leave the club following the conclusion of the campaign.
